The Department of Defense has identified 3,218 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:

CORNELL, Wayne R., 26, Sgt., Army; Holstein, Neb.; First Infantry Division.

RICHARDSON, Stephen K., 22, Pfc., Army; Bridgeport, Conn.; First Infantry Division.
